So, I got a PS2 (again... x3) and was trying to look for a good RPG to fiddle with. I played FFXIII... well, seen it played and played a few parts; mostly the hunts and a few of the missions, but I didn't want to waste the money on it since I've seen the ending, and played about thirty percent of it (my friend's game). I ask the (very cute) girl behind the counter at Gamestop if she has any recommendations for PS2 RPGs. After our debate over Final Fantasy VII myths and rumors (fifteen minutes later...), she recommends to me Rouge Galaxy.
| Quote: | Story
Rogue Galaxy begins on the planet Rosa with the title hero, Jaster Rogue, a young man with avid dreams of exploring the galaxy. Unfortunately for him, Rosa, despite being a planet on the outskirts of the galaxy, is rife with highly contested natural resources. As a result, the planet has been placed under occupation by the Longardia Commonwealth in order to ostensibly defend it against the Draxian Empire. Its citizens live under their oppressive control and are forbidden from leaving the planet. However, thanks to a few misunderstandings and a series of fortunate events, Jaster is recruited by a gang of space pirates who mistook him for the legendary hunter, Desert Claw, and he joins the crew of the pirate ship Dorgenark along with her captain, Dorgengoa, as they leave Rosa. He will eventually find himself taking part in a galaxy-wide search with the crew for a legendary planet said to hold the secrets of a highly advanced and vanished civilization along with possessing enough wealth to buy the galaxy. But what begins as a simple hunt for the greatest treasure ever known soon turns into much more as the Daytron Corporation and its devious president, Valkog Drazer, join the hunt for the mysterious and much desired planet.

Don't you love Wikipedia? So easy to explain everything ;D
Anyhow, I'm about to leave the first planet. Controls are good, gameplay is pretty good; basic, but good. I recommend it thus far.

I found the dungeon crawling later on in the game to be a pain in the ass, but overall RG was ten times more fun than FFXII. The weapon customization in this game was easy to get into and very addicting. And I thought the skill growth system was unique, but you really had to be careful with the items you used. Like if you stumble upon those really hard-to-get items, save them for the characters you use the most.
The Insectron Tournament was fun too, it was like a dumbed-down version of Pokemon. =P

I just rented this and put the cd inside the ps3...lets see how it goes...^^
'Lo, there do I see my father.
'Lo, there do I see My mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
'Lo, there do I see The line of my people...
Back to the beginning.
'Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla...
Where the brave may live forever.

It was a fun game, and had some interesting parts to the game, but the last boss was annoying, not hard, just annoying.

I loved this game!
The story was enticing, I loved the characters, and I actually got sick from staying up so late for nights on end collecting all the weapons.
There are over 700 weapons in total.
I beat the game, but didn't manage to get very far on the ghost ship. I mean I beat the actual dungeon, but I didn't even ATTEMPT to go through the Extreme mode. 100 floors is a little steep for me.

I got it a year ago but got stuck in the begining against the two rock giant monsters and stopped playing it(mostly becuase i was also playing la pucelle tactics and more into it then rogue galaxy) then about a week ago i played it again and was able to beat the monsters, i am now at the end just before going into the labyrinth.
Rogue galaxy is a very fun game it is one of my favorite games.
