Pretty much anything UC Gundam is rare in the states. On Japanese sites, however, some pairings are pretty common (Char/Amuro, Char/Garma *squeals*, Quattro/Camile). But anything involving the guy on my avatar and sig (Ghinius from 08th) is exceedingly difficult to find. I've seen some stuff of him paired with Yuri (guy that looks like Wolverine), Shiro (two pics, and the pairing also makes less than zero sense), and, oddly, Garma from MSG (and he was the SEME. This is very odd considering that he is seven years younger than Ghinius). But I still find the lack of Ghinius yaoi on the net very disurbing...

Characters I feel are left out in general:
Yuffie - Final Fantasy VII
You always see Tifa and Aerith paired together, or Aerith paired with everyone, but does everyone really despise Yuffie? *watches flash parody of FFVII* I guess so o_O
| Quote: | Change party members? How about Yuffie and Cait Sith? You're right ... nobody likes them! Let's stick with Aeris and Tifa.
|
Pairing Suggested: Tifa and Yuffie I think would make for a good story. They're both martial artists, and decent fighters. I actually used Yuffie more than most of the other characters, and usually paired her with Tifa.
Setsuna - Sailor Moon Series
(Like I said above) Another character always left out. Just because she's the guardian of time and all doesn't mean she can't have a love-life ... well ... does it?
(Like I said above)
Suggested Pairing: Ami and Setsuna. They're both very smart, and full of wisdom. Oh, and I'll have to check out that story of yours, Shane
(Send a link in PM. I might be too lazy to search for it.)
Jinx - Teen Titans
I've read a bunch of fanfics of the series, and most have been Shoujo-ai; there aren't many with her in'em. Another character I think needs a little more love.
Suggested Pairing: Raven and Jinx. I know, there's a bunch out there, but I have yet to read a decent one that has a plot and storyline revolve around the both of them, not just one *Scratches away at current story written* Nuh nuh nuh, don't worry about that story. I'm working on a re-write.
I think I'll add more later in an Edit.

I have yet to see a AthrunShinn from GundamSeedDestiny pairing
KiraAthrun is a popular Yaoi/Shounen-ai couple in the Gundam Seed universe, I really would like to read a AthrunShinn fic.

I want to see more Ichigo/Renji/Ichigo from Bleach.
I'd like to see ANY Agito/Ikki/Akito from Air Gear. Seriously, the fanfiction just doesn't exist.

I can't do Ami/Setsuna - Makoto would kill me - but I am working on giving her a love life. Even if it is in the past tense.
As for another couple I'd like to see but never do, and this one is really odd and not based on anything in the series, is Michelle and Nancy from ROD TV. Michelle has the personality to deal with her in her impaired state, and they both have Junior in common. And with his attachment to Michelle, Nancy's bound to get jealous at times as she's trying to get closer to him. It'd be the perfect set-up for them. Heck, I'm almost tempted to write it myself.
Stupidity is a chain reaction.

I guess I'll come out and say Shinobu-Kaede from 2x2=Shinobuden. But I think that's more of a case of a rare series, I'm thinking about writing the first fic for it on mediaminer. The silly plotlessness of the series leaves a lot to develop.

I've seen a couple on adultfanfiction.net (if you're wanting lemons) otherwise I haven't really looked. Suprisingly that is a pairing that is hard to find.

Yes! The world needs more Murrue/Natarle. I wrote one on ff.net and got surprisingly positive feedback. They spend so much time in the series obsessing over one another and just are incredibly hot together...
I've personally hardly encountered any decent Gojyo/Goku (Saiyuki) and although it's not one I favour, I think it could be done really well. Two guys as passionate and energetic as they are could really work.

For me, I'd really like to see from Tenjho Tenge(shonen)-
Masataka Takayanagi
and
Souichiro Nagi
=[
yes... I have fallen plague to that pairing, unfortunately.
Everyone else focus' their attention to Aya or Maya and whoever. =[
So yeah. No one has written at all with the pairing I want.
Unless.......one of you people did one [doubt it]. lol. I did do a fluffy one, but to me, I reckon it's crapo and I think that if I post it on Fanfiction or something, I wont get reviews or anything. So yeah.

I will *kill* for more well-written Lance x Red. Heck, I'll even take Lance x Ash as long as the pairing is reciprocal. It could work! Older man, younger kid... hero worship...
No one seems to pair Ash with anyone but Gary (Palletshipping), and frankly all of it that I have found (points at huge stack) is OOC, tasteless, or overdone. Hence, despicable.
There should be more pokemon yuri pairings too, but the majority of Pokemon fandom seems to ship only heterosexual Ash x Misty and May x Drew, or original characters. Quite sad...
As for yuri pairings I like in pokemon, I prefer Lorelei x Misty, Sabrina x Erika, Lorelei x Clair, and others.

Making the Final Fantasy rounds:
Yuna/Lulu (Lulu totally has her hands all over Yuna throughout FFX, and is all, "hands off my WOMAN!" to Tidus for the first half of the story -- do I have to write them all myself?!!)
Quistis/Xu, OTP of FFVIII. I so have to finish that Girl Next Door piece.
Beatrix/Garnet (I've seen one)
Tifa/Elena (tough gals woot)
Penelo/Fran (the age gap worries me, but I've seen a very few of these and they're always excellent)
Out beyond my usual fandom:
WHERE is the Ivanova/Talia Winters love from Babylon 5? It's CANON! The series creator confirms there was almost certainly nookie after that fade to black! There's angst and backstory clash and subtexts and betrayal! And telepathy kink!
Maybe the series is getting too old, but good grief, it wasn't THAT long ago that B5 was the new kid on the block.

Yes.
I think the majority of us see it as a possessive motherly relationship, so it'd be difficult for us to see it otherwise to write our own. Not so difficult for us to see it if well-written, though, which as far as I've seen, you personally are fairly good at.

Ah, but I've been in seen RL relationships like that: "This is the light of my life, and I will KEEL U DED if you hurt her". It reminds me of of classical Greek homosexuality, where one partner tended to be older than and serve as mentor and guardian to the other.
That's a dynamic that has fallen out of favor, due to the danger of unhealthy power dynamics and/or exploitation of minors, but it can work if the younger member is allowed to be him/herself and is past "minor" and into "young adult" stage.
A lot of video game and anime characters are right on that cusp of adulthood, so it's a model that can work well for slash. One just has to keep an eye on the power dynamics to make sure it's not turning into pedophilia.
Revolutionary Girl Utena does an excellent job of portraying that Greek type of same-sex relationship when it works (Utena/Anthy, hints of Juri/Utena) and when it's horribly wrong (Akio/everybody, Juri/Shiori as an example where the older member of the pair is damaged by the twisted power dynamic).
Iggy: I can't write m/m, so I know what you mean.

Actually, that's a gross oversimplification of Greek sexuality. It's also incorrect, really, and a misuse of modern terminology and labels on an ancient culture with vastly different social mores and a cultural tradition far removed from our own, and indeed much less progressive. As far as the actual practice goes, it was a much older male and a boy who has not yet grown his beard -- and sex did not in actuality play a role.
Besides, I actually meant that to many of us it comes off literally as a mother-daughter relationship, not a sexual relationship with mother-daughter overtones or dynamic. There's a big difference between those two. And that's why a lot of us can't write it ourselves.
Of that group, many of us can read it, though, given good, believable writing. But the onus is on the writer to make us believe it and that is, of course, quite possible, if rare -- always a problem with slash fandom for both sexes.
And as I said, you are one of those people who can do that, at least for me. So, don't get me wrong -- I think this and pairings like it are fascinating. I just also think they're a lot harder to write (especially well) than many may think.

Hmm. I'm wanting to address your assertions about same-sex relationships in ancient Greece (well, Athens): I agree with you on some points, but strenously disagree on others, based on specific evidence in R.F. pottery and classical literature. Yes, I was being overly simplistic -- this is a fanfic thread about rare ships, not the Bryn Mawr classical department's Friday symposium or a seminar by David Halperin.
However, I use fandom as a way to take a break from the academic grind, so I would like to agree to disagree, and attempt not to derail the thread further!
Anyway, not to get stuck on one particular ship, let me throw out another:
Jury/Utena in Revolutionary Girl Utena
Not canon, but very easy to do as an AU. There was certainly attraction between them.
Also, going back to the fandom that started the slash notation in the first place...
has anyone ever seen any Uhura/Janice Rand?

Well, I only argued because it was an unnecessary oversimplification that only furthers, to other readers who are undoubtedly not nearly as knowledgeable as you or I, ignorance on the subject, which is a troubling and persistent issue. I know that pottery and literature, too, and could make a good case for other references due to different sexual meanings and politics. But you're right, this is a fandom thread.
However, I would say that, as the only actual mod on this forum, we haven't derailed and we weren't going to, since it was relevant to a (rather lengthy) discussion about a particular rare pairing.
I don't know Utena so I can't comment there. I had to wiki Rand and that didn't tell me enough to know who she actually is, and I wouldn't see it due to lack of interest in Star Trek fandom. So, with that, I'll take my leave for a time being.
